“He forced a key holder intomy private part”: 23-year-oldvirgin narrates how she wasraped by brother’s friend

When other young ladies would be
flaunting the new additions to their
wardrobe this yuletide, 23-year-old
Ngozi Okoye (real name concealed)
will be sad and bemoaning the evil fate
that befell her just days before Christmas.
Shapely Ngozi, a native of Ogidi, Idemili
North Local Government Area,
Anambra State, who had vowed to go
into marriage as a virgin, was brutally
raped by her elder brother’s best friend on December 16, 2013, leaving
her shattered into a 1000 pieces like
the windshield of a car, her virgin
blood spilled and highly treasured
virtue forever taken by a scoundrel.
Even more pathetic is the fact that she escaped the mayhem of Boko Haram in
troubled Bauchi State, only to be
savaged by the foul, filthy hands and
mind of a son-of-the-devil lurking at
home, in the heart of Igboland. For her
the rape experience is like a case of running from frying pan into fire.
Ngozi’s taste of hell on earth began
on Monday, December 16, when she
went to her shop behind the Obosi
Town hall, Obosi, also in Idemili North
LGA to do her normal business of running a beer palour with her elder
brother, which he set up to survive the
hard times after relocating home in the
wake of the incessant Boko Haram
bombings in Bauchi. As if the devil was playing a one-
person chess game in which she was
the pawn, the evil being first sent the
woman that sold the shop to Ngozi’s
brother at the cost of N60,000, who
showed up to seek payment of the balance of N15,000 after the brother
had paid an initial sum of N45,000.
Recalling how she came into the
picture, Ngozi said: “My brother told
me about how people who came to the
shop always requested for fresh fish peppersoup and other delicacies. As I
had not found anything to do since we
returned from Bauchi, my brother
pleaded with me to join him in Obosi so
that I could be preparing the delicacies
and selling to customers who come to the shop to drink. When I came, we
started the business and it was still
trying to stand when one day, the
woman that sold the shop to my
brother came.
“She was doing the same business like us, so she left behind some plastic
chairs and a deep freezer. As my
brother could not afford to buy his own
freezer, we decided to be using the
woman’s own with her consent
anyway. Then one day, she told my brother to give her N20,000 so she
could leave the freezer for us. My
brother agreed; we were still trying to
raise money to pay for it and also
complete the payment for the shop
when she came on Monday to carry the freezer.”
“The day before, on Sunday, and I had
gone to the market and bought some
fresh fish and meat. I put these items in
the deep freezer for preservation. So
as I was about cleaning the shop the next day when the woman came and
began shouting on top of her voice that
she must take the freezer away. I was
still pleading and telling her I kept
something in the freezer when she
stormed out and returned in company with two men who I noticed were
commercial motorcyclists. She ordered
them to go into the shop and bring out
the freezer. They came in and threw
the fish, meat and every other item in
the freezer out and took it away.” Rapist appears, promising Greek gift
As Ngozi was lamenting over the
sudden turn of events that spoiled her
sales projections for the season, the
evil being moved another of his chess
pieces to act out his assigned role: the suspect, Tochukwu Nebo, popularly
called Baby Boy in Obosi showed up
with an offer to give Ngozi another
freezer to enable her to continue with
the business since her elder brother
happened to be his friend. Probably elated, she did not recognize the Greek
gift the son-of-the-devil was dangling
before her.
Her words: “I was still crying that my
last hope of continuing the business of
selling fresh fish and peppersoup had been aborted by the woman when she
took the deep freezer away. Then
Toochukwu (we call him Baby Boy)
who is my elder brother’s friend
came to me. I thought he came to help
me. There was a time he took refuge in our house when he was wanted for
something in Obosi. So he came to the
shop that Monday and tried to console
me, saying that I should stop crying. He
said he had three deep freezers; that
he would go home, consult his wife and then give me one to continue my
business. He left and after about one
hour later, he came back and told me
to follow him to his house so that we
could discuss with his wife. I said I
would wait for my brother to return first since the shop was not mine
alone.
He became angry and started shouting
at me, trying to force me to follow him.
By that time it was already getting
dark. Then he raised his shirt and showed me a pistol tucked into his
waist band and ordered me to remain
silent, and threatened to shoot me if I
said anything or shouted. I still insisted
I would not go with him on a waiting
motorcycle. He brought out a cutlass and as I tried to hold his hand and save
myself, the sharp edge of the blade cut
my hand. I was bleeding profusely and
began to shout for help but nobody
came to my rescue because Baby Boy
is notorious in the community. Whenever anybody came and saw that
it was between Baby Boy and a girl,
they just left without saying or doing
anything. He continued dragging me
until I got on the motorcycle. When we
got to his house at Akwasi-Ire village, Obosi, directly opposite the home of
former Commonwealth Secretary
General, Chief Emeka Anyaoku, he
stopped and pretended to make a call
after which he said his wife said I must
come into the compound. I refused and said his wife should come out.
“At that point, he lifted and put me on
his shoulder and kicked the gate open
with his leg. The time was already
9.30pm. As I was crying for help, I
could hear people’s voices in the big building. It was fully occupied by
tenants but nobody came to my
rescue. He took me straight to his
bedroom, threw me on the bed and
left. When he left, I tried to escape, but
discovered that he locked the room. Shortly after he returned and brought
out the gun, pointed it at me and
ordered me to undress. I refused and
he pounced on me, tore my pant. A
struggle ensued between us but being
stronger than myself, he overpowered me and tried to force himself inside
me. At that moment, I tried to calm him
down, telling him I was still a virgin.
Initially, he broke into laughter and
said that the only way to know that a
23-year- old girl is still a virgin is by testing it himself.
“He looked around and saw a key
holder with an opener. He brought it
close to the bed and started beating
me because I didn’t to his evil desire.
Then he tied my long hair which I just plaited before that day to the iron rods
of burglary proof at the window; he
tied my two legs separately with white
rope to the iron bar in the room before
he forced the key holder into my
private part as his manhood could not penetrate. Immediately, blood oozed
out. He was shocked and tried to stop
the flow with my pant that he had torn.
The pain was so excruciating that I
passed out.
“When I regained consciousness, I saw myself on the bare floor in his
room alone in the pool of my own
blood with water gushing out of my
body. I noticed then that he had tried to
use water to bring me back to
consciousness. It was at that moment that he told me that he was surprised
to see that I was truly a virgin at my
age. He said that in Obosi, at 14 years,
all the girls had known men. I thought
he had come back to his senses but
shortly after saying that with the gun pointing at my forehead, he began
raping me again. After several hours of
battling for life I pretended to have
passed out again. He ran out and came
back in the company with another guy
who came into the room and discovered I was still breathing. I
overhead him telling Baby Boy that I
was still alive.
YEAR“While they were still discussing
outside, I picked up my phone, tried to
call my brother but I had only N3 credit left; he called me back but before I
could answer him, Baby Boy heard my
voice and rushed into the room; he
saw me holding a phone, it was ringing
but I couldn’t pick it because he was
so furious and was ready to kill me. He snatched the phone and saw it was my
brother calling, he took it and held it
until it stopped ringing. He ordered me
to pick it the second time and tell my
brother whatever he told me to say.
With gun pointing at my head, he said I should tell my brother that it was very
late, so he took me home to stay with
his wife and I was in the same room
with his wife. I said so thinking he was
going to release me. Shortly after that,
my brother called him on his own phone and he didn’t pick it. Later he
started begging me not to tell anyone
about the incident. He took some of my
hair strands that cut off when he tied
my braid to the iron bar and my blood-
soaked pant and put them in a pit toilet in his compound. It was at that time
that I told him to take me back to the
shop so that my brother would not
notice. He said it was a good idea. As
we were going to the shop, he
promised me give me the deep freezer for free and N10,000 if I kept the
incident secret. I said yes and he
dropped me and went back to his
house. Moreover, a woman who
introduced herself to me on the phone
as his wife promised to give me N100, 000 if I withdrew the complaint. Well, I
have told all these things to the
security agents.
“I didn’t know that when I spoke to
my brother before my credit finished
that he heard part of what I said and quickly called one woman who is our
neighbour in the shop who confirmed
that when the incident started at the
shop, that she thought it was armed
robbery and she quickly closed her
shop and then called the Obosi Vigilance Service who came in the
morning and surrounded the shop.
They were shouting open this door,
open this door. When I opened it, I saw
security men and I told them my story
and along the line, I fainted.” The Obosi monarch reacts
When contacted at his palace, Obosi
monarch, Igwe Chidubem Iweka told
Sunday Sun that when the news
filtered into the palace, he quickly
ordered the Obosi Vigilance Group to go after the suspect who, he said, had
been a thorn in their flesh. Fortunately,
when the suspect was arrested, men
of the State Security Services, SSS were
on patrol in the community and he was
quickly handed over to the SSS, where it is believed he had made useful
confessional statements.
Igwe Iweka said the community would
not tolerate anybody with questionable
character especially during and after
the yuletide, adding that the community in line with the already
good relationship with the state
government and all the security
agencies would ensure that criminals
are chased out of the community.

Evil world,Mother KillsHer Baby By Forcing Him ToDrink Insecticide In Cross River

Residents of Atimbo community in
Calabar, Cross River State were thrown
into mourning over the death of a one-
year-three-months-old baby boy who
was allegedly killed by his mother.
20-year-old Ikwo Udoh Bob, was said to have killed her baby boy by forcing
him to drink a poisonous substance
suspected to be insecticide in the early
hours of Friday.
Udoh Bob was said to have had a fall
out with the man suspected to be responsible for her pregnancy before
the baby was born and was alleged to
have told some close friends that she
wanted to have an abortion.
The Sun reports: According to the neighbours’
accounts, the young mother was
piqued that she was abandoned by her
lover-boy at the most critical moment
of her life even when she pleaded with
the man to financially support her after delivery of the baby.
Frustrated that the alleged father of the
baby failed to provide financial support
for the upkeep of the infant after
delivery, Ikwo allegedly killed her
young son. Speaking to our correspondent in tears,
the father of the young woman, Mr.
Udoh Bob, said, “Yesterday was the
second time my daughter attempted to
kill the boy, named Victor.”
Narrating the incident, Bob, who is a timber dealer and a native of Eket in
Akwa Ibom State, said in an emotion-
laden tone, “I left the house in the
morning on that Friday without sensing
any ominous sign that my daughter
was hatching such an evil plan. I don’t know what to tell you now but I
want to believe that God knows the
whole thing. Before I left the house in
the morning yesterday, the boy called
me daddy as usual and waved at me. I
waved back only to return and was told he was dead. I took over the
responsibility of caring for the mother
and child after the young man who
impregnated her denied her and ran
away,” he said in an emotion-laden
tone.” He recalled that there was a day he
noticed the boy foaming from the
mouth and he quickly gave him palm
oil to drink, an act, which, he said,
neutralized the effect of the poison,
adding, “Now that this has happened, I believe she attempted to kill the boy
then, but God did not allow it.”

OPPZ: "I Stole And HideHis Gold Necklace In MyVirgina After Sex"

26-year-old Tessy Emorvon, who stole
a gold necklace from her guy, shocked
operatives of the Special Anti Robbery
Squad (SARS) in Lagos, when she
suddenly dipped her fingersinto her
vagina and produced the N850,000 necklace after several days in
detention.Trouble started when
Cosmos, her boyfriend,realized that
the gold necklace that he wore while
having sex with Tessy was missing. He
immediately raised the alarm... The occupants of the hotel, including Tessy,
werearrested. They were all searched
and the gold chain was not found. Not satisfied with their claim that they
were not aware of where the gold
chain was kept, Cosmos quickly
alerted the police at Area F, Ikeja. At
the police station, Tessy insisted that
sheknew nothing about the stolen gold necklace. Having been detained for
two days, she was granted bail while
investigation continued.But Tessy was
immediately re-arrested by detectives
at SARS, Ikeja when the owner ofthe
necklace, Cosmos alerted them that his girlfriend who believed stole his
necklace, had been granted bail.The
officer in-charge of SARS, SP Abba
Kyari ordered his men to take Tessy in
for their own tough process of
interrogation. But terrified that she could be treated
like an armed robber, Tessy quickly
confessed and agreed to produce the
golden necklace from where she had
kept it.The policemen however got the
shock of theirlives when she started undressing. Embarrassed, the officers
asked if she had lost her senses and
Tessy insisted that she was trying to
bring out the necklace. She dipped her
fingers inside her vagina and pulled
out a piece of cotton wool soaked with blood. To the surprise of all present, inside it
was the stolen necklace.Meanwhile,
Cosmos said he had strong feelings
that the gold necklace was with Tessy
as she had threatened severally that
she would disappear with it. "I have heard so much of the exploits of SARS,
Ikeja, so I quickly rushed to the office
and filed a fresh report when I learnt
that they wantedto release her.
Actually, she drugged me, before
taking the necklace," Cosmos added.Confessing to her crime, Tessy
said: "This man is very stingy and
hardly pays well at the end of a hot
sex session with him. He is actually my
boyfriend and I have dated him for
more than a year. Most of the time, he will have sex with me and go home
giving excuses why he would not give
me a kobo. I always let it go because I
knew that at the end of the day, I
would make money from other
customers. Since he is the only one that I normally
had sex with without condom,I was
enjoying the relationship."Few days
before the incident, he came with a
gold necklace and told me that it was
worth N850,000. I felt bad that a man who can afford to buy a necklace
that's worth that much could not give
his girlfriend money for maintenance.
The next day, he came with another
necklace and at that point I made up
my mind that I would steal it. He slept a lot after sex, so it was easy forme to
take the necklace and hide it. Naturally, I knew that they will strip
me in an attempt to find the necklace,
so I had no choice but to hide it in the
safest place in mybody. My
vagina."Funny enough, Mr Cosmos is a
married man. According to Tessy, "It was when the argument started that
she got to know that Cosmos is a
married man with children. His brother
suddenly surfaced and accused him of
abandoning his wife who is a nursing
mother at home.I was so disappointed because, he had promised to marry
me."Lagos State Police Command are
yet to decide if Tessy will be charged
to court or not.

Yvonne Nelson Vows To RemainSingle

Few months ago, the 'fragile' heart of
Ghanaian actress, Yvonne Nelson was
allegedly smashed by Nigerian 'bad boy'
singer, Iyanya after she was allegedly
used and dumped by the 'All I Wan Is
Your Waist' singer. Information exclusively reaching tienzy.blogspot.com has it that the light- complexion star is not thinking about
any other man, at least, for now. But we were informed by a source close
to her that Yvonne is planning to remain
single at the moment. "She’s not trying
to be pushed anyhow by anyone,” the
source said. The source further explained that 'It’s
not that Yvonne’s too heartbroken to
think about meeting someone new, but
she just simply doesn’t have enough
time to build a solid new relationship.' “It’s not like she’s done with the
movie shoot. She’s only got a little
more than a week to chill out,” the
source said, explaining further that,
"that’s no time for her to be trying to
date anybody or complicate things with some dude.” “She’s cool with that,” the source
added. “No man's needed,” said the
source. We were also told that Yvonne is
"always going to movie locations while
she’s got a quick break,” adding that
it, "will keep her busy and out of
trouble."

The S3x Tape HelpedMe--Chidinma Reveals

Some weeks back, the first female
winner of MTN Project Fame West Africa,
Chidinma Ekile was in the news for an
alleged s3x scandal. The 'small but
mighty' singer would have surely been
devastated by that bitter experience. The video, which many thought was the
'Kedike' crooner, turned out to be
another lady having a striking
resemblance of the MTN Brand
Ambassador. Recounting how she dealt with the
situation, Chidinma told Punch in an
interview that it was not easy for her.
She disclosed that her manager had to
tell her to see herself as a balloon in the
air, surrounded by needles below and being waited to be deflated. She however submitted that the incident
has turned out to be a big blessing to
her. In her words, "I woke up one morning
and I was greeted on the internet with
'Chidinma and s3x tape'. I was worried
primarily because of my mother. I didn't
let her see the video but I had to show
her the photos. I didn't want to go out that day. I couldn't go out. But my mum
felt otherwise. She told me to ignore the
mischief makers. I almost took some
actions but I thought against it. "I met Sound Sultan on a set. He told me,
'Babe, you are now a star. I welcome
you officially into the industry.' "I trended for three days. Even people
who didn't know me got to know me. My
fan base grew. And then, I was happy
because more than 90 per cent of the
public didn't believe I was the one in that
video. There were people who didn't need to see the video to believe I
couldn't have done such thing. I am just
grateful to everyone who didn't believe
the story. "My twitter account was hacked and the
people created another account. They
kept releasing nasty pictures and they
were even responding to the tweets as
if I was the one doing it. I was just
watching and laughing. It put me in the spotlight. I used it for good."

Manchester United v NewcastleUnited: Six reasons for slump atOld Trafford under David Moyes

Having inherited a squad with many key
players in their thirties and others who
are simply not up to the job, David Moyes
failed to strengthen sufficiently. The Scot can legitimately point to an
inexperienced chief executive Ed
Woodward as a mitigating factor, but the
buck stops with the manager and he
should have been more forceful in terms
of getting the players he wanted. Why did United and Moyes dither over a
move for Leighton Baines, why did they
spend so long chasing Cesc Fabregas
and Cristiano Ronaldo and, ultimately,
why did they pay over the odds to sign
Marouane Fellaini? Van Persie injuries Robin van Persie played every game for
United as they won the title last season
and his goals, many in the dying stages
of games, turned draws into victories. He was United’s talisman, but injuries
have kept the Dutchman sidelined this
term and his outing against Newcastle,
when he looked short of fitness, was his
first for a month as a result of a groin
injury. There has been a lack of continuity up
front and too much of a burden placed
on Wayne Rooney's shoulders in Van
Persie’s absence. The shortcomings of Danny Welbeck and
Javier Hernandez have been exposed
when United have been without Van
Persie in the starting line-up. No fighting spirit After half a season under Moyes, it
appears as though ‘Fergie Time’ died
out when Sir Alex Ferguson vacated the
manager’s office. Once famed for securing draws or
victories with late fightbacks, United
have had none under Moyes and, more
worryingly, they have thrown away
victories against Southampton and
Cardiff this season by conceding injury- time equalisers. United appear leggy and out of steam in
the final stages of games, so is that
down to Moyes’s more demanding
training regime or opponents sensing
weakness and pushing on, rather than
sitting back? Belief has dwindled away from
Moyes’s players and even the Old
Trafford crowd appears to have given
up judging by the vast empty spaces late
on against Newcastle. No imagination Moyes had good reason to pursue Cesc
Fabregas and Ander Herrera during the
summer transfer window because
United’s midfield has proven to be
worryingly short of imagination and
craft this season. They have become predictable and the
over-reliance on Michael Carrick has
been emphasised since the England
player underwent an Achilles procedure
last month. Without Carrick, United have
collected just two points from four games. Beyond Carrick, the cupboard is bare.
Tom Cleverley has made little priogress,
Fellaini has endured a nightmare, while
Anderson continues to offer nothing. Ryan Giggs, at 40, has been United’s
best midfielder after Carrick and that is
worrying sign. Too many changes Moyes has pointed to United being in a
period of transition following
Ferguson’s retirement, but has he
contributed to the uncertainty by making
so many changes behind the scenes in
the summer? Ferguson had attempted to prepare the
club for his departure by installing
coaches who could remain in place to
ensure a smooth transition, but Mike
Phelan, Rene Meulensteen and Eric
Steele were all moved on and replaced by Moyes’s Everton staff. None of Jimmy Lumsden, Steve Round,
Chris Woods or Phil Neville has coached
at Champions League level and neither
had Moyes, so he replaced Ferguson’s
brains trust with a staff of men
unproven at the highest level. As a result, many United players have
more experience than the coaches
charged with improving and inspiring
them. Luck has run out Blaming bad luck is usually the first
excuse of the ill-prepared, but Moyes
may have good reason to cite poor
fortune as a factor in United’s slump. Against Everton in midweek, United hit
the woodwork twice before succumbing
to Bryan Oviedo’s late goal and they
struck the post against Newcastle
before falling to Yohan Cabaye’s goal
on Saturday. United have lost key men such as Van
Persie, Wayne Rooney and Michael
Carrick for key games this season and
their absences have proved decisive. Moyes also argued that United were
dealt a tough start to the season, but the
counter-argument would be that
Manchester United should talk
themselves up rather than worry about
the hand dealt to them.

Stoke City 3 Chelsea 2: matchreport

Mourinho trudged out of the Potteries
with the look of a man on the brink of a
mini-crisis and his response when asked
how he can get his strikers to start
scoring – “I don’t know” –
suggested a much greater problem could be on the horizon. Chelsea should have been out of sight by
half-time but have now conceded six
goals in two games and could be seven
points behind Arsenal if Arsène
Wenger’s team defeat Everton on
Sunday. They had appeared on course for their
ninth win in the past 11 games against
Stoke after Andre Schurrle’s early
goal, in a first half Chelsea dominated,
but the home team responded with a
resilient performance that was a throwback to the gritty days of their
early years in the Premier League under
Tony Pulis. And just when Stoke appeared content
for a deserved point, Assaidi, signed on
loan from Liverpool, cut inside to beat
Petr Cech and condemn Mourinho to his
third league defeat of the season. John
Terry will not look back fondly on his 33rd birthday. Mourinho was at a loss to explain what
he had seen. “You don’t want me to
criticise my player’s mistakes. I
can’t. You can,” he said. “The
problem is we didn’t score goals and
we conceded goals, that was the mistake. After half an hour we should
have been winning by three or four. “We were playing so well, it was so
easy and you find spaces, creating so
much, you have to kill the game. “But we are playing well. To be where
we are, and you see us in relation to
Arsenal, Manchester City, Manchester
United, Tottenham and Liverpool, we are
not doing badly even in term of points in
the league. “But we are not a physical team, we
are not a team who can defend against
physical teams. We need to score
goals.” The last time Stoke defeated them in the
league was 1975 when Mud were No
1 with Oh Boy. There have been
chastening defeats along the way, and
Stoke might have feared another one
when they fell behind after 10 minutes. An avalanche of Chelsea goals looked
possible then. It had seemed that there was nothing on
as Schurrle received the ball from John
Obi Mikel 30 yards out but the German
international easily bypassed Ryan
Shawcross, twice, before arrowing a
low shot across Asmir Begovic into the bottom corner. Schurrle’s goal, his second for Chelsea,
set the tone for the half as his side took
control. Eden Hazard, so inspired against
Sunderland on Wednesday night,
produced another menacing
performance, constantly finding space as he tiptoed his way through Stoke’s
midfield. Chelsea had chances to increase their
lead, with Juan Mata shooting straight at
Begovic before Ramires lofted the ball
over the crossbar. “You’re going down with United”
chanted the Chelsea fans, yet Mourinho
clearly seemed perturbed at only being
a goal ahead, frequently displaying his
repertoire of extravagant gestures. His anxiety proved well-founded. Stoke,
who lost Charlie Adam through injury in
the early stages, had offered little but
equalised three minutes before half-
time. Marko Arnautovic’s corner was
not cleared and Crouch reacted quickest to turn and shoot under Petr Cech. While that goal was scruffy, Stoke’s
second was exquisite, six minutes into
the second half. Jon Walters advanced
down the right and sent Stephen Ireland
clear. The midfielder curled a wonderful
shot into the far corner. Their lead lasted barely two minutes,
however. Mata’s free-kick ricocheted
off Crouch in the area and Schurrle’s
half-volley gave Begovic no chance.
Schurrle almost had a hat-trick, bending
a shot that struck the top of the bar, before being substituted for Samuel
Eto’o with an injury. It was now a riveting game and Ireland
wasted a decent chance before Frank
Lampard, a substitute, failed to trouble
Begovic with a free-kick. Assaidi then produced a moment of
magic to secure Mark Hughes only his
second league win since August and it
was no less than his side deserved. The manager said: “It’s a great result
for us and I thought it was a fantastic
game but I would say that. We need a bit
of credibility because we are trying to
change things. “There will be days when we are not
particularly good with what we’re
trying to do, but we have set our
standards today and we have to
maintain that.” Team details

Facebook 'three times morepopular than Twitter' on mobile

The survey of 500 phones buyers in the
US between June and September of this
year shows that Facebook is
unchallenged as the leading app on
smartphones, according to the company
which conducted the research. Mike Levin, co-founder of Consumer
Intelligence Research Partners (CIRP),
said: “Facebook just dominates mobile
phones, in terms of most frequent use,
not just downloads. “For most other apps, including some
well-known ones like YouTube and
Pandora, fewer than 10 per cent of
phone buyers included them among the
most frequently used”. Twitter has 15 million active users in the
UK, the company revealed in September,
representing about a quarter of the
country's populatoin.

How to choose the perfectChristmas tree

Measure the space you want your tree
to fit in before you leave the house: it
can be very hard to estimate a tree's
size by eye. Don’t forget, the tree
stand could add 15cm to the height. Wear gloves, so you can transport the
tree to your car or home without
pricking your hands: some trees'
needles are very sharp. There is a wide range of Christmas trees,
all different in appearance, and some
more likely to drop needles than other.
Some of the most popular are as follows: Norway Spruce – pyramid in shape, with
a tendency to drop needles. Nordmann Fir - dark green foliage and
soft leaves, suited to fewer decorations.
A popular choice with the ability to hold
its needles well. Blue Spruce - elegant with natural blue
foliage. Fraser Fir - leaner in shape with much
denser foliage, ideal in a smaller room. Christmas tree positioning and
decorating Choose a well-lit spot where the tree will
stand out and be noticed. Don't put it somewhere where excited
children or pets are likely to crash into
your masterpiece. Avoid standing the tree next to radiators
and fireplaces - they can dry out the
tree, and are also fire hazards Display larger decorations evenly on
branches around the tree from bottom
to top, then repeat with smaller ones, to
create an even spread Caring for your tree Ensure your tree is getting enough
water - they need a lot, and thrive best
on approximately 1-2 litres daily. Christmas tree afterlife Call your local council and ask if they will
collect and recycle If it has roots, plant and care for the tree
in early January to enjoy it again next
year

RBS/NatWest online bankingcrashes again

In a statement, NatWest said it had
experienced a sudden rush of visitors to
its website, causing it to crash. This was
due to a "deliberate" attack by hackers. A spokesman said:"Due to a surge in
internet traffic deliberately directed at
the NatWest website, customers
experienced difficulties accessing some
of our customer web sites today. "This deliberate surge of traffic is
commonly known as a distributed denial
of service (DDoS) attack. We have taken
the appropriate action to restore the
affected web sites. At no time was there
any risk to customers. We apologise for the inconvenience caused." Customers took to Twitter to complain at
around midday. One said: “Now the
entire NatWest website is down. Not
ideal timing to be having these issues a
week before my [house] completion
date...” Another wrote: “Is Natwest online
banking not working for anyone else? So
frustrating." Customers appeared unable to log-in via
the main homepages of the banks'
websites. However, NatWest told one
customer to log in via this link http://
goo.gl/ZPDdZ? . The customer said this
worked. RBS executives apologised profusely for
a systems meltdon on Monday night
which saw millions of customers of RBS,
NatWest and Ulster Bank unable to
withdraw cash or make payments. The bank said the disruption lasted from
between approximately 6.30pm and
9.30pm. During this time an estimated
750,000 people are likely to have tried
to use a cash machine. All systems were up and running again
on Tuesday morning, the company
stressed. Speaking on BBC Radio Four's Today
programme a spokeswoman said the
outage and inconvenience caused to
customers was "completely
unacceptable". She said the causes of
the problem, and the precise numbers of customers affected, were unknown. The
matter was being investigated, she said. For "even one customer not to be able to
access their money was unacceptable,"
she said. Based on the assumption that a quarter
of the bank's customers make payments
or access their accounts in some way
every hour, the number of those
affected was likely to be in the millions. The bank has promised to invest £450m
to improve its IT systems. Customers of the banks are fast
becoming used to tehcnological failures.
In June 2012, a failed software update
locked millions out of their accounts for
up to a month. In October 2012, the bank
had to suspend its GetCash mobile app over fraud fears.

nelson mandela's complete biography

Rolihlahla Mandela was born into the
Madiba clan in Mvezo, Transkei, on July
18, 1918, to Nonqaphi Nosekeni and
Nkosi Mphakanyiswa Gadla Mandela,
principal counsellor to the Acting King of
the Thembu people, Jongintaba Dalindyebo. His father died when he was a child and
the young Rolihlahla became a ward of
Jongintaba at the Great Place in
Mqhekezweni. Hearing the elder’s
stories of his ancestor’s valour during
the wars of resistance, he dreamed also of making his own contribution to the
freedom struggle of his people. He attended primary school in Qunu
where his teacher Miss Mdingane gave
him the name Nelson, in accordance
with the custom to give all school
children “Christian” names. He completed his Junior Certificate at
Clarkebury Boarding Institute and went
on to Healdtown, a Wesleyan secondary
school of some repute, where he
matriculated. Nelson Mandela began his studies for a
Bachelor of Arts Degree at the University
College of Fort Hare but did not complete
the degree there as he was expelled for
joining in a student protest. He
completed his BA through the University of South Africa and went back to Fort
Hare for his graduation in 1943. On his return to the Great Place at
Mkhekezweni the King was furious and
said if he didn’t return to Fort Hare he
would arrange wives for him and his
cousin Justice. They ran away to
Johannesburg instead arriving there in 1941. There he worked as a mine
security officer and after meeting Walter
Sisulu, an estate agent, who introduced
him to Lazar Sidelsky. He then did his
articles through the firm of attorneys
Witkin Eidelman and Sidelsky. Meanwhile he began studying for an LLB
at the University of the Witwatersrand.
By his own admission he was a poor
student and left the university in 1948
without graduating. He only started
studying again through the University of London and also did not complete that
degree. In 1989, while in the last months of his
imprisonment, he obtained an LLB
through the University of South Africa.
He graduated in absentia at a ceremony
in Cape Town. Nelson Mandela, while increasingly
politically involved from 1942, only
joined the African National Congress in
1944 when he helped formed the ANC
Youth League. In 1944 he married Walter Sisulu’s
cousin Evelyn Mase, a nurse. They had
two sons Madiba Thembekile
‘Thembi’ and Makgatho and two
daughters both called Makaziwe, the
first of whom died in infancy. They effectively separated in 1955 and
divorced in 1958. Nelson Mandela rose through the ranks
of the ANCYL and through its work the
ANC adopted in 1949 a more radical
mass-based policy, the Programme of
Action. In 1952 he was chosen at the National
Volunteer-in-Chief of the Defiance
Campaign with Maulvi Cachalia as his
Deputy. This campaign of civil
disobedience against six unjust laws
was a joint programme between the ANC and the South African Indian
Congress. He and 19 others were
charged under the Suppression of
Communism Act for their part in the
campaign and sentenced to nine months
hard labour suspended for two years. A two-year diploma in law on top of his
BA allowed Nelson Mandela to practice
law and in August 1952 he and Oliver
Tambo established South Africa’s first
black law firm, Mandela and Tambo. At the end of 1952 he was banned for
the first time. As a restricted person he
was only able to secretly watch as the
Freedom Charter was adopted at
Kliptown on 26 June 1955. Nelson Mandela was arrested in a
countrywide police swoop of 156
activists on 5 December 1955, which led
to the 1956 Treason Trial. Men and
women of all races found themselves in
the dock in the marathon trial that only ended when the last 28 accused,
including Mr. Mandela were acquitted on
29 March 1961. On 21 March 1960 police killed 69
unarmed people in a protest at
Sharpeville against the pass laws. This
led to the country’s first state of
emergency on 31 March and the banning
of the ANC and the Pan Africanist Congress on 8 April. Nelson Mandela and
his colleagues in the Treason Trial were
among the thousands detained during
the state of emergency. During the trial on 14 June 1958 Nelson
Mandela married a social worker Winnie
Madikizela. They had two daughters
Zenani and Zindziswa. The couple
divorced in 1996. Days before the end of the Treason Trial
Nelson Mandela travelled to
Pietermaritzburg to speak at the All-in
Africa Conference, which resolved he
should write to Prime Minister Verwoerd
requesting a non-racial national convention, and to warn that should he
not agree there would be a national
strike against South Africa becoming a
republic. As soon as he and his
colleagues were acquitted in the
Treason Trial Nelson Mandela went underground and began planning a
national strike for 29, 30 and 31 March.
In the face of a massive mobilization of
state security the strike was called off
early. In June 1961 he was asked to lead
the armed struggle and helped to establish Umkhonto weSizwe (Spear of
the Nation). On 11 January 1962 using the adopted
name David Motsamayi, Nelson Mandela
left South Africa secretly. He travelled
around Africa and visited England to
gain support for the armed struggle. He
received military training in Morocco and Ethiopia and returned to South Africa in
July 1962. He was arrested in a police
roadblock outside Howick on 5 August
while returning from KwaZulu-Natal
where he briefed ANC President Chief
Albert Luthuli about his trip. He was charged with leaving the
country illegally and inciting workers to
strike. He was convicted and sentenced
to five years imprisonment which he
began serving in Pretoria Local Prison.
On 27 May 1963 he was transferred to Robben Island and returned to Pretoria
on 12 June. Within a month police raided
a secret hide-out in Rivonia used by ANC
and Communist Party activists and
several of his comrades were arrested. In October 1963 Nelson Mandela joined
nine others on trial for sabotage in what
became known as the Rivonia Trial.
Facing the death penalty his words to
the court at the end of his famous
‘Speech from the Dock’ on 20 April 1964 became immortalized: “I have fought against white
domination, and I have fought against
black domination. I have cherished the
ideal of a democratic and free society in
which all persons live together in
harmony and with equal opportunities. It is an ideal which I hope to live for and to
achieve. But if needs be, it is an ideal for
which I am prepared to die.” On 11 June 1964 Nelson Mandela and
seven other accused Walter Sisulu,
Ahmed Kathrada, Govan Mbeki,
Raymond Mhlaba, Denis Goldberg, Elias
Motsoaledi and Andrew Mlangeni were
convicted and the next day were sentenced to life imprisonment. Denis
Goldberg was sent to Pretoria Prison
because he was white while the others
went to Robben Island. Nelson Mandela’s mother died in 1968
and his eldest son Thembi in 1969. He
was not allowed to attend their funerals. On 31 March 1982 Nelson Mandela was
transferred to Pollsmoor Prison in Cape
Town with Sisulu, Mhlaba and Mlangeni.
Kathrada joined them in October. When
he returned to the prison in November
1985 after prostate surgery Nelson Mandela was held alone. Justice Minister
Kobie Coetsee had visited him in
hospital. Later Nelson Mandela initiated
talks about an ultimate meeting
between the apartheid government and
the ANC. In 1988 he was treated for Tuberculosis
and was transferred on 7 December
1988 to a house at Victor Verster Prison
near Paarl. He was released from its
gates on Sunday 11 February 1990, nine
days after the unbanning of the ANC and the PAC and nearly four months after the
release of the remaining Rivonia
comrades. Throughout his imprisonment
he had rejected at least three conditional
offers of release. Nelson Mandela immersed himself into
official talks to end white minority rule
and in 1991 was elected ANC President
to replace his ailing friend Oliver Tambo.
In 1993 he and President FW de Klerk
jointly won the Nobel Peace Prize and on 27 April 1994 he voted for the first time
in his life. On 10 May 1994 he was inaugurated
South Africa’s first democratically
elected President. On his 80th birthday in
1998 he married Graça Machel, his third
wife. True to his promise Nelson Mandela
stepped down in 1999 after one term as
President. He continued to work with the
Nelson Mandela Children’s Fund he set
up in 1995 and established the Nelson
Mandela Foundation and The Mandela- Rhodes Foundation. In April 2007 his grandson Mandla
Mandela became head of the Mvezo
Traditional Council at a ceremony at the
Mvezo Great Place. Nelson Mandela never wavered in his
devotion to democracy, equality and
learning. Despite terrible provocation, he
never answered racism with racism. His
life has been an inspiration to all who
are oppressed and deprived, to all who are opposed to oppression and
deprivation.

Goodluck Jonathan talks about the death of our ledendary nelson mandela, via facebook

My dear friends on facebook, the news of
the passing of the great Nelson Mandela
to ancestorhood has left Africa and the
rest of humanity with a deep feeling of
loss. Never in recent living memory has a
leader mobilized the consciousness of
human existence to the cause of freedom
and the advancement of world civilization
as did Mandela. By his exemplary life of humility and high
inclusivity, the former president
enshrined a beacon of hope for the
hopeless and gave power to the
powerless in the world as we know it
today. He was a man who planted trees whose
shade he knew he would never
physically enjoy but was nonetheless
satisfied that the trees would provide
some shade for the living. As humanity looks into the future, the
Mandela story will remain a most
outstanding example of compassion,
forgiveness and progress. Because of the
work of Mandela and his compatriots,
humanity now looks forward to a better world in the centuries ahead. Adieu, our
leader Mandela! GEJ

Dear Lagos State Police, please find the men who didthis to these women

Dear Lagos State Police, please find the men who didthis to these women

Some of you may have seen the video.
I refused to watch it until now and to
say that I am horrified by what I saw
is an understatement. The horrific
incident appears to have happened in
Lagos because one of the women referenced 'Iyana Ejigbo' while being
tortured. In the video, several men beat, strip,
and torture two women for allegedly
stealing pepper. Yes, grounded
pepper. The horrible men inserted
pepper and stick into their vaginas.
One of the women is even a mother with children at home. This is one of the most horrific acts I
have ever seen perpetrated on
women. The men who did this must be
brought to book. We can't keep taking
laws into our own hands, we are not
animals. Dear Nigerian Police, please do your job. Find the video download

BON bans several artistsincluding 2face, D'banj,Iyanya, because of COSON

For quite some time now, the
Copyrights Society of Nigeria (COSON),
has been harassing the Broadcasting
Society of Nigeria (BON) and the
Independent Broadcasting Society of
Nigeria, IBAN, insisting that they pay royalties for playing the songs of
Nigerian artists. COSON has dragged
several radio and TV stations to court,
demanding millions, sometimes
billions of Naira in royalty. Well, it seems IBAN and BON have had
enough. Two days ago, they
announced the ban of all Nigerian
artists registered with COSON. Meaning
that they ordered the immediate stop
to the airing of songs of artists who are COSON members. The artists include 2face Idibia, D'banj,
Onyeka Onwenu, Iyanya, Banky W,
Flavour, Ice Prince, Dr Sid, Olamide,
9ice, M.I, eLDee, Ruggedman, Wizkid,
Asa, Waje, Omawumi and several
others. In a statement released and signed
jointly by the President and Secretary
of IBAN, Sonny Adun and Guy Murray
Bruce, the need for such a drastic step
was due to "the antagonism and
harassment under the leadership of Tony Okoroji (COSON Chairman)”.
Continue... The statement in part reads "No
person or organisation, particularly a
collection society such as COSON has a
monopoly of authority over any
other…IBAN and BON have the utmost
respect for Nigerian artistes in their individual and collective capacities and
have indeed contributed more than
any known institution to the promotion
of Nigerian music and the
development of the entertainment
industry as a whole." They are accusing COSON of arbitrarily
imposing and concocting fees which
are not based on any agreeable and
verifiable tariff and standards. However Mr Okoroji while reacting to
the decision of the broadcasting bodies
says the issue here is the strict stand
COSON has on the royalties of artist
works used on any of the broadcast
stations. He says some stations have this attitude of "we can handle COSON"
and goes on airing the works of the
artist without paying them their due
royalty which COSON is strongly
against. Meanwhile the Performing Musicians
Association of Nigeria interim
president has released a statement on
the ban on airplay of Nigerian artists
by BON. The statement below... PMAN Speaks on the current ban of airplay of Nigerian artists by BON & IBAN The Performing Musicians Association of Nigeria is appalled by the recent development spearheaded by the Broadcasting Organisation of Nigeria (BON) and Independent Broadcasters’ Association of Nigeria (IBAN) via an official press release yesterday, calling for the immediate airplay ban on all media platforms on content from Nigerian artistes, the association which was created with the sole mission to PROTECT, PRESERVE, and PROMOTE Nigerian musicianshas decided to react on the ban and on- going feud between the Broadcasting Organisation of Nigeria(BON), Independent Broadcasters’ Association of Nigeria (IBAN) and Copyright Society of Nigeria (COSON) calling for an immediate reversal of the ban in the interest of these artistes whom we know that all the above mentioned organisations have their best interests at heart. The ban on airplay of these Nigerian artistes and their music on various Nigerian media platforms is from our standpointvery unfair, demeaning and discouraging. Weall knowwithout a doubt that these same artistes who have persevered and assisted us to build, today what is known as the Nigerian music industry, Africa’s biggest entertainment export to the world are the same people that are now being victimised. With this action, the association foresees a situation where this ban will, rather than encourage well meaning members of the society, with musical talent to hone
their craft and join the success story of the entertainment industry, reverse will be the case. We also foresee a situation where the bulk of the material that will be circulated on nigerian airwaves will be foreign materials, celebrating alien artistes instead of embracing, home grown talent and ourcultural heritage. COSONin it’s own right by a mandate given to the organisation acts as a collecting society for these artistes, helping to monitor and collect royalties entitled to them. As a collecting society, they have since inception acted as a shield to these artistes protecting their intellectual rights. BON& IBAN are arguing that the tariffs and standards presented to them by COSON should be defended and agreeable with them, but we know that the ban is not the best invitation to the negotiating table. Article 3.13.2.2 of the Broadcast code issued by NBC says: ‘For the purpose of free-to-air broadcast, Nigerian music shall constitute 80 per cent of all music broadcast’. If this ban is sustained, and 80% of the music played on the various media platforms are foreign material, we should ask ourselves as guardians of the music industry, if these media houses are paying the royalties owed to these foreign artistes, and thereby sidelining Nigerian music by Nigerian artistes, are we supporting them or failing them?We should also ask ourselves, ifthis ban which will invariably affect the rising profile of the Nigerian music industry in the world, economically and in relevance is good for us. With these ongoing conflicts, lets not forget the owners of this intellectual properties, the music owners, record label owners, recording artistes, the instrumentalists, composers, who have spent time and money producing and packaging, what we know, enjoy and call music, their interests should be siginifcant in these agreements. In light of all that has been mentioned above we ask again that the ban be reversed and that all the affected parties and major stakeholders in the entertainment industry sit down for a dialogue and reach a favourable agreement, beneficial to everyone involved.

Burna Boy’s criminal pastrevealed:Barred from the UKfor 15 years?

This is a report by The NET claiming
Burna Boy has a criminal past, a period
of his life he would rather not make
public knowledge. We are told on good authority that while
in the UK back in 2010, Burna Boy was
arrested by London Police for allegedly
being part of a gang and stabbing
someone to death. He was tried as a
minor and sent to jail. After 11 months, he was released and
given two months parole plus
community service on the grounds of
being of ‘good behaviour’. But Burna
is said to have disobeyed authorities and
travelled back to Nigeria where he signed a record deal with Aristokrat.
He later travelled back to the UK but was
arrested at the airport and deported to
Nigeria. He is currently barred from the
UK for the next 15 years. If you recall last month Stargist
published a report that Burna was
planning on leaving his record label. We are told that problem ensued when his debut album ‘L.I.F.E’ dropped in
August 2013. Burna Boy wasn’t
pleased with the way the label handled
the marketing and release of the
album.Contrary to reports earlier
published, Burna did NOT get a N10m upfront payment for the album. The
artiste feels the label should have done
better – probably with a high budget
album launch, major campaign etc. ‘He can’t be told anything to do,
he’s a big boy right now. He won’t
just listen anymore, the label are
frustrated with his actions’. Burna has moved out of the house
provided for him by the label in Lekki
Phase 1 and relocated to a house in
Chevron Estate also in Lekki, Lagos. He
has extricated himself from them and
now handles his career with a former label employee who now only answers
to him (Burna).

the Super Bowl in February and kicked
off a worldwide tour, The Mrs. Carter
Show World Tour, in April. The

to rapper Kanye West, the father of her
child. The “Keeping Up with the
Kardashians” personality topped the list in 2012 and 2010.

Saidi Balogun refutes court action against ex-wife, Fathia Balogun

There were unconfirmed reports over the weekend that actor Saidi Balogun had dragged his ex- wife actress Fathia Balogun to court over the use of his surname, Balogun, insisting that she drops it. (Read HERE). Saidi has reacted to the report. Find a statement he released after the cut... I would be glad if my personal life can be kept out of the public eye. If a “news story” begins with the phrase “According to unconfirmed reports,” and the affected stakeholders did not confirm such reports, is the story really newsworthy? Punch called me about an personal issue (about a previous marriage) that I have no knowledge of. My response to them is the same response I have said times without number to all unconfirmed, untrue and other rubbish stories of the like: I, Saidi Balogun, am focusing on my work! I am married to my work and my work is all I know! When I told this to Punch, they at least printed what I said. But, they used a completely different headline that has no basis in fact, which they even admitted to themselves via their failed effort to provide evidence or confirmation of the rumor. Abeg o, as Saidi Balogun, keep my personal life which you know nothing about out of the public eye and concentrate on the work I do that so many credible people respect me for. Thanks and God Bless all of my fans, I love you! - Saidi Balogun

Paul Walker's fatal crash caught on CCTV

A video showing the precise moment Paul Walker's Porsche Carrera GT crashed into a tree and burst into flames has been released. The footage of the deadly crash was captured by CCTV cameras on the roof of an industrial park close to the crash site. The pic above was taken a few minutes after the accident on Saturday. It shows fire fighters and police physically wrestling one of Paul's friends away from the scene. Meanwhile a friend of Paul and Roger Rodas who was at the charity show on Saturday said the two friends took the Porsche out to check for a suspected mechanical issue and not for a joyride as is being reported. 'As they were backing up the Carrera to put into the garage, it started stalling. I heard someone say, and I think it was Roger, "Why is the car stalling? Let’s take it around the block", the friend told Hollywood Reporter. 'Paul said, "Let me go with you really quickly. The whole premise of taking the car out for a drive was because something was wrong. These guys are business owners and Paul was a celebrity. They are responsible people. It was more like, "What the hell is wrong with this car? Let’s see what’s wrong and go for a drive".'
